Activities

The focus of the sessions is for children to learn through play activities and each morning there is a structured programme.

This will include group activities in which the children learn songs and rhymes, storytime, painting and other art projects.

There are also times for the children to use their imagination in free play. Staff observe the children's learning and provide regular feedback to parents on their progress.

Time Table

9:00 to 11:45 Monday to Friday in termtime.

Caterpillar Pre-School

Caterpillar Pre-School runs 5 mornings a week during term time. The cost is £10.00 per session, payable in advance. A deposit, equal to one full week, must be paid with registration. Children must be registered for between 2 and 5 mornings a week. All children are eligible for a Nursery Education Grant from the term following their 3rd birthday.

Caterpillar Pre-School is Ofsted registered and runs Monday to Friday mornings during term time providing care and an Early Years curriculum for up to 26 children aged between 2 years 2 months and 4 years 6 months.

Special Needs children and children for whom English is a second language are welcome.

As well as an attractive spacious indoor room and wet play area, we have an outside play area which includes a safe surface area, a grass area, a water feature, a sandpit that the children can climb into and a gardening area.

Parents  are encouraged to be involved in their children's learning and come along to the events organised by the staff.

Caterpillar Pre-School is currently funded by parents' contributions, the government's Nursery Education Grant voucher scheme and the Woodroffe Benton Foundation. However, we rely on fundraising to provide addtional equipment and materials used by the children. We also provide subsidised places for those families who would otherwise find it difficult to cover the cost of the sessions for their children, before they are eligible for Nursery Education Grant funding.
